Landlords in Uganda will pay 20% as Tax on there House rentals to Uganda Revenue Authority

In Kampala, If you are a landlord and your apartment in Uganda cost  200,000/= Uganda shillings to rent,
you will have to pay KCCA 40,000 as tax. and you will remain with 160,000/=
This is a new initiative revealed by Uganda Revenue Authority to generate more tax revenue to implement government programmes.

On the percentage of rent which URA will take, Saka said: “We shall tax every property or house which is rented. If it is owned by an individual it will be taxed 20% and if it is a company, it will be 30%.”
This tax is likely to be protested by traders and residents of urban centres since these taxes will be passed over to them by their landlords in form of increased rent charges.
